Erie, PA – The Erie Downtown Partnership is thrilled to host the second annual Community Harvest Dinner on Friday, October 24th from 6PM-8PM in West Perry Square. This free celebration honors another successful season of the Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) Farmers Market downtown stand and the spirit of abundance it has fostered throughout our community.
In the same spirit of food sovereignty and access that has defined the PWYC market system, this dinner will feature a free seasonal meal sourced entirely from locally-grown produce and ethically-sourced staple crops, prepared by local chefs and farmers. To date, the Downtown Pay-What-You-Can Farmers Market stand has distributed almost 3,000 pounds of food, with the final market taking place tomorrow, October 17th. Collectively, the donation-based PWYC Farmers Market system has distributed over 25,000 pounds of food to our community.
The evening will feature vegetarian and vegan options, with coffee provided by Ember+Forge. The atmosphere will be enhanced by decorative lighting, table settings from 10/20 Collective, flowers from Wild Field Urban Farm, and live music from solo jazz performer Nicholas Nasibyan. Volunteers will serve the meal, and while compostable silverware and plates will be provided, attendees are encouraged to bring their own reusable dinnerware. No RSVP required, just the spirit of community and celebrating what we’ve grown and shared together.
This is an invitation to everyone in our community—including you, person reading this.
This event is made possible by Erie Strayer; dinner is presented in partnership with Erie FPAC, BUILD CDC, Hamot Health Foundation, Frow and Glow Urban Collective, Wild Field Urban Farm, Erie Farm to School, Conscious Food Project at Raintree Farms, and Groundwork Erie with support from First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Erie Bank, Brian & Linda Graff, Ember+Forge, PA Cyber Charter School, Monahan & Monahan, Glass Growers Gallery, and 10/20 Collective.
