The Erie Downtown Partnership (EDP) will kick off its summer events with a Block Party at U Pick Six Tap House this Thursday, June 4th, from 6 to 10:30 p.m., to benefit the American Red Cross, featuring Geek Army and Whiskey Road Rock Show. Its first Bike Night will follow on Friday, June 5th, from 6 to 10:00 p.m., on State Street from 4th to 12th Street.
“2015 marks the 10th Anniversary of our popular Block Party and Bike Night events. It’s hard to believe we’ve been ‘rockin’ the block’ and ‘revving up downtown Erie’ for over a decade,” said John Buchna, Chief Executive Officer of the EDP. “We’ve intentionally built our Block Parties and Bike Nights around holiday weekends this summer,” he added. “We want, as always, to promote local businesses and their events so that ours add momentum to their planned activities, encouraging even more people to explore all that the downtown district has to offer.”
Buchna noted, “Over the last few years a record number of people attended our events, enjoyed downtown Erie, and donated to local charities. We estimate that our organization has helped raise nearly $200,000 over the past decade for local charities. And the money raised stays right here in our community.”
“We are grateful to the generosity of the community and to our sponsors for making our Block Parties, Bike Nights, and Downtown d’ LIGHTS events a success and for supporting our mission to bring people downtown,” Buchna said. “June 4th kicks off another Summer Series of Events so we hope everyone will join us in encouraging more people to enjoy downtown Erie and help provide even more support for our local non-profit organizations.”
