The Erie Downtown Partnership will hold a new business ribbon cutting event for Like My Thai restaurant at 10:30 am, on March 11, 2015 at 827 State Street, Erie, PA.
“Downtown Erie is expanding its culinary scope once again with yet another new, independently owned restaurant,” said John Buchna, CEO of the Erie Downtown Partnership. Mike and Liz Augustine and their business partner, Bonnie Baker, are opening Like My Thai, a Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean restaurant, which will serve lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday.”
The Augustines have been serving Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean food for over eight years. Recognizing Erie’s hunger for their savory, fresh cuisine, Mike and Liz organized a very successful Kickstarter campaign to turn their pop-up business into a full-service restaurant. “We have been absolutely stunned by the outpouring of genuine support and encouragement from all our backers,” said Liz. “Since we live and work here, we’re familiar with all that downtown has to offer. We wanted to be part of this varied, growing market.”
Mike added, “We never thought that this project would overfund by such a large amount. With over $13,000 in funding through Kickstarter, we were able to vastly improve the quality of the equipment and furnishings in our new restaurant over our original plan.” Future plans will include delivery service and outdoor dining.
